Tourism in Abkhazia: Seasonal Start Dates Have Changed

Skm, March 28 – The high tourist season in Abkhazia will begin a month earlier – from May, the News Agency told the press service of Intourist.
“Abkhazia is one of the five most popular mass tourist destinations. According to the results of early booking, which will end at the end of March, tickets are sold three times more than in the previous year,” said a representative of the tour operator.
The most popular resort in Abkhazia is Gagra. Behind him – Pitsunda and New Athos. Travelers also show interest in the Gudauta and Sukhum regions.

According to the forecasts of the tour operator, in the May holidays and in the summer all places in the resorts of the republic will be occupied. The company predicts that “the average occupancy rates of popular hotels in Abkhazia in the off-season will be at least 60-75 percent. The demand for vacations in the republic in the summer will exceed supply.”
The expert noted that most hotels in Abkhazia adhere to a restrictive pricing policy, which is an additional attraction for tourists.
