The results showed that patients who received islet cell transplants had a 50% lower risk of developing kidney failure compared to those who did not receive this treatment. Furthermore, these patients lived an average of one year longer. Additionally, the study found that islet transplant recipients were 70% less likely to require regular insulin for managing blood sugar levels.
