Turkey announced that in 2022 it will issue the majority of residence permits to Russians

Istanbul, January 15 – Russians ranked first among foreigners in terms of the number of residence permits they obtained in Turkey in 2022, according to data from the Turkish Migration Agency.
The total number of foreigners in Turkey who obtained a residence permit in 2022 amounted to more than one million and 354 thousand people, according to statistics received by the News Agency.
More than 153 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation have received a residence permit in Turkey, in second place after them – 131 thousand Iraqi citizens and more than 100 thousand Syrians. There are more than 47,000 immigrants from Ukraine who have obtained a residence permit. At the same time, according to the tourist residence permit, issued for a short period of up to a year, there are more than 132 thousand Russians in Turkey, according to the department’s data.
Azerbaijan is the leader in the number of residence permits issued on the basis of family or study ties in the country.

The maximum number of foreigners registered in Istanbul – more than 706 thousand people, as well as in Antalya – more than 158 thousand.
At the same time, the total number of foreigners legally residing in Turkey increased slightly compared to 2021 – by 40 thousand people.
The agency reported earlier that more than 3.5 million Syrians live in Turkey.
