Ankara, February 2 – The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop, said that the situation in Ukraine showed the ineffectiveness of the UN, it is necessary to reform the organization.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly criticized the United Nations, saying that “the world is more than five (permanent members of the UN Security Council), and the main body of the UN should better represent the Muslim population.
“When Mr. President says ‘the world is more than five’, he is revealing the truth. Look at the situation in Ukraine. This situation showed how ineffective the United Nations is, how weak the organization is in the interests of five countries,” Şentop said in an interview with Anadolu Agency reporters. .

The 15-member Security Council is the only body in the UN that can make decisions with legal force, while the five permanent members – Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom and the United States – have veto power. Ten non-permanent members of the Security Council do not have such a right. From time to time, some parties make appeals to deny a particular country the right of veto.
