Turkey carried out Operation Peace Spring against the US-backed People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria to bring peace and tranquility to the region. After the completion of the operation, the Turkish units and the Syrian National Army focused on ensuring the security of the area and creating the necessary conditions for the return of civilians displaced by terrorism.

The operation, which was conducted in line with the country’s right to self-defense emanating from international law and UN Security Council resolutions, aims to establish a safe zone free of terrorism for the Syrians to return to the area east of the Euphrates, and then control it.
