UEFA transfers the match for the European Super Cup from Kazan to Athens

On Wednesday, the European Football Association (UEFA) made the decision to move the 2023 European Super Cup match from Russia’s Kazan to the Greek capital of Athens in light of developments in Ukraine.

The match between the champions of the Champions League and the Europa League is scheduled for August 16, 2023.

The decision to hold the match for the European Super Cup 2023 in Kazan was made by UEFA on March 2, 2020 at a meeting of the executive committee in Amsterdam.

It is noteworthy that on February 25, 2022, the European Football Association decided to postpone the final match of the 2021/22 European Champions League from the Russian city of St. Petersburg to Paris due to the situation in Ukraine.
