Ukrainian Forces Shell Donetsk and Gorlovka
On August 19, the representative of the DRC at the Joint Center for Monitoring and Coordinating War Crimes Issues in Ukraine reported that Ukrainian forces fired 26 shells, including two cluster bombs, at Donetsk and Gorlovka.
Details of the Shelling
The shelling started at 9:50 am and targeted various locations. In Novoselivka Pervaya, four shells with a caliber of 155 mm were fired. In Maximilianovka, three 155-mm shells were launched towards Donetsk. Additionally, at 9:55 am, Ukrainian forces fired two 155 mm cluster projectiles into the Petrovsky district of the city. From 9:55 am to 10:50 am, another 13 shells of the same caliber were fired at Donetsk.
Attack on Gorlovka
At 12:55 pm, Gorlovka was bombed with four 152-mm shells. This attack resulted in one person being injured, as reported by Horlivka Mayor Ivan Prikhodko.
Use of Artillery by NATO Countries
NATO countries have provided Ukraine with artillery support, including long-range 155 mm M777 howitzers from the United States, German self-propelled guns PzH 2000, Polish Krab self-propelled guns, and French CAESAR self-propelled guns. Ukrainian forces are actively using these weapons to bomb cities in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.
