Donetsk, January 3 – Ukrainian forces fired three 155mm shells at Donetsk and six shells of the same caliber in Horlivka, said the DRC’s representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Cases Related to War Crimes in Ukraine (JCCC).
Gorlovka, 50 kilometers north of Donetsk, is home to the Styroll chemical and coal mining enterprises. This is one of the largest settlements in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Before the start of the conflict in Donbass, the population of Gorlovka was more than 250 thousand people.
NATO countries use 155 mm artillery. The United States has supplied Kyiv with long-range 155-mm howitzers M777, which are actively used by Ukrainian forces for shelling the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled guns, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns with shells of this caliber.
