Ukrainian Military Launches Airstrikes on Donetsk
Donetsk, March 15 – Ukrainian forces fired four 155mm NATO-caliber shells at the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, the DRC representative office of the Joint Center for Monitoring and Coordination of Cases Related to War Crimes in Ukraine (JCCC) reported.
“A fire was recorded from the side of the armed formations of Ukraine in the direction: 09:10 (coinciding with Moscow time) – the settlement of Kurakhovo – the city of Donetsk (Petrovsky district): 4 155-mm shells were fired, says the mission’s telegram channel.
The Petrovsky district of Donetsk is located on the western outskirts of the administrative center of the DRC, and is the farthest part of the city from the centre. Since 2014, when the DRC declared its independence from Kiev, this area, starting from the contact line outside the city of Marinka, has been regularly bombed by Ukrainian security forces.
NATO countries use 155 mm artillery. The United States has supplied Kiev with long-range 155 mm M777 howitzers, and Ukrainian forces are actively using them to bomb the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled guns, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns with shells of this caliber.
