Moscow, February 24 – Ukrainian Shakhtar defeated French Rennes on penalties and reached the 1/8 finals of the Europa League, the second most important European Cup, on aggregate.
The main time of the second leg of the play-off round in Rennes ended with a score of 1: 0 in favor of the hosts, and the teams scored another goal in overtime. Carl Toko Ekambi (52) and Ibrahim Salah (106) scored for Rennes. French club player Januel Pelosian scored an own goal (119). Shakhtar players were more accurate in penalties – 5: 4.
