Understanding Kidney Cancer: What You Need to Know

Kidney cancer, a potentially life-threatening disease, can be difficult to detect in its early stages. According to Professor Alexander Sirykov, an oncologist, symptoms may not manifest until the disease has progressed.

Recognizing Symptoms

As the disease progresses, certain symptoms may arise. These include the presence of blood in the urine, persistent back or side pain, unexplained weight loss, chronic fatigue that persists even after rest, and an elevated body temperature.

Professor Sirykov emphasizes that while these symptoms can indicate kidney cancer, they may also be signs of other health conditions. It is crucial to consult a doctor and undergo the necessary examinations and tests for an accurate diagnosis.

The Origins of Kidney Cancer

Like other types of cancer, kidney cancer begins with DNA mutations in cells. These mutations can result from exposure to carcinogens or substances, as well as genetic predisposition. The uncontrollable division and multiplication of cells ultimately lead to tumor development.

Although the exact causes of kidney cancer remain unknown, certain factors can increase the risk. These include aging, smoking, being overweight, chronic kidney failure, and a genetic predisposition to kidney cancer.
