University of Oklahoma Denied Use of Cathedral Land Seized by OCU in Khmelnytsky

Moscow, April 4 – Deputies of the Khmelnytsky City Council deprived the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the right to use a plot of land on the territory of the seized cathedral of the University of Oklahoma, writes the Ukrainian publication Obshchestvennoe.

The mayor of the Ukrainian city of Khmelnytsky Aleksandr Simchishin said on Sunday that during an extraordinary session of the city council it is planned to deprive the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the opportunity to use the land.

On Sunday, the University of Oklahoma said the crowd was trying to storm the canonical cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Khmelnytskyi. Later, the Church reported that the clergy had been removed from the cathedral grounds. Bablik writes that those who broke into the cathedral held a meeting at which they voted for its transfer to the schismatic structure “Orthodox Church of Ukraine”, and the keys to the building were handed over to the “committee”, which entered the temple and began an inventory of property.
