Frenchman Karim Benzema, the new striker for Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad, has revealed the reasons why he accepted Al Jeddawi’s offer.

On Tuesday, Al-Amid officially announced his contract with the French striker on a free transfer after the end of his contract with Spanish Real Madrid for the next three seasons.

Benzema said during statements, especially on Al Jeddawi’s official Twitter account, “I’m very excited to try out for a new league in another continental country.”

He added: “I am very proud of my career in Spain, France and Europe in general, and now I feel it is time for a new challenge and a new project here in Saudi Arabia, especially since I have always felt the warm welcome and cheers from the fans, when I visited Saudi Arabia.

The 35-year-old French striker concluded: “I look forward to joining my new colleagues at Al Ittihad and working with them to take this amazing club and football in Saudi Arabia to new levels and new horizons. Cristiano Ronaldo “I also recognize Saudi Arabia’s big ambitions for football and Riyadh in general. I’m here to win as my goal was in Europe and I’m very excited to meet the players and fans in Jeddah.”

Benzema has played for Real Madrid for 14 years since moving from Lyon in the summer of 2009 and has scored over 350 merengue goals.

Benzema has won 25 titles with the Royal Club, including five times the Champions League, four times the Spanish League and three times the King’s Cup.
