Update on railway station conditions in southern Russia from Russian Railways

MOSCOW, June 24 – Through its telegram channel, Russian Railways showed videos and photos from Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Voronezh and Tula stations, and reported that the situation was calm.

According to the video, there are no crowds of people at the Rostov railway station, passengers are sitting in the waiting room, there are empty seats. People quietly walk around the station.

RZD wrote: “It is calm at the Rostov-Glavny station now.”

Russian Railways later added: “At the Krasnodar, Voronezh, Tula stations, everything is also quiet. Their load is no more than 50%. Waiting rooms and ticket offices work as usual, and there is no fuss on the platforms.” Trains run on schedule.

On Saturday night in Rostov-on-Don, the Wagner PMC captured the headquarters of the Southern Military District. Groups of armed men are moving around the city, and checkpoints have been set up at entrances and exits. This happened against the background of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s statements about allegations of missile and bomb attacks by the Russian Armed Forces on the camps of the Wagner PMC – this was refuted by both the Ministry of Defense and the FSB. A criminal case was opened against Prigozhin for organizing an armed rebellion.

Russian President Vladimir Putin described the rebels’ actions as a criminal adventure, a stab in the back for Russia and a betrayal that led to exorbitant ambitions and personal interests. The head of state added that everyone who embarked on the path of treason, extortion and terror methods will inevitably be punished, and the Russian armed forces have received the necessary orders.

According to Putin, the situation in Rostov-on-Don is still difficult, and the work of the civil and military authorities is broken.
