US and EU affirm commitment to collaborate with China in select fields

Washington, June 25 – The United States and the European Union affirmed their intention to cooperate with China in areas where it is in the common interest, as well as to work together to solve global problems, according to a statement issued following the next round of dialogue between the United States and the European Union on China.
The US State Department said the United States was represented at the June 22 meeting by Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland and the European Union Secretary General of the Department of External Relations Stefano Sannino.
“Deputy Secretary Nuland and Secretary General Sannino reaffirmed their desire to continue substantive engagement with China in areas of mutual interest, as well as in addressing issues for which China bears global responsibility,” the statement read.
