US President Joe Biden Considering Sending Long-Range Missiles to Ukraine
The United States is considering sending long-range missiles equipped with cluster bombs to Ukraine in response to the ongoing war with Russia, according to officials.
Exploring Missile Options
Following the successful use of cluster munitions in 155 mm artillery shells, the US is contemplating sending either the Army’s Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) or the Multiple Launch Rocket System to Ukraine. The ATACMS can fly up to 190 miles (306 km), while the GMLRS missiles have a range of 45 miles and are loaded with cluster bombs.

If approved, either missile system could be quickly shipped to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
Enhancing Ukrainian Military
With progress being made in the Ukrainian campaign against Russian forces, the Biden administration is keen to support the Ukrainian military during this crucial time.
Uncertainty and Concerns
The decision to send the ATACMS or GMLRS missiles is not yet final and could face obstacles. The Biden administration has been cautious about sending the ATACMS, fearing that it may provoke Russia and be seen as an overly aggressive move.
