Moscow, April 22 – The 2022 Olympic figure skating champion, Kamila Valieva, said she had drawn strange looks from other athletes at the Beijing Olympics after the doping scandal began.
After the team tournament at the 2022 Olympics, in which Valieva helped the Russian team win, it became known that the figure skater’s doping test on December 25, 2021 gave a positive result. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowed the athlete to take part in the individual tournament of the Games, where she became the fourth. The International Olympic Committee announced the results of the Beijing Olympics competitions, with the participation of Valieva, as a prelude to them, and the ceremony of honoring the winners of the Olympic team championship was postponed until the completion of the investigation of the case. Valieva’s case is currently before the CAS.

In January, it was reported that the Rusada Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee established that Valieva was not guilty of violating anti-doping rules, but at the same time annulled her result at the Russian Championship – 2022. Rusada, along with the World Anti-Doping Organization. The Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Skating Union (ISU), have filed an appeal with the CAS against the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee’s decision.
