The first physical E3 event in four years was supposed to be a triumphant return for the trade show, a chance to relive some of the excitement of past conventions, which have been big shows for the games industry in the past. Instead, it was a disaster.
E3 2023
But E3 2023 won't have three of its biggest draws in the Los Angeles Convention Center in June. Multiple knowledgeable sources have said that Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo won't be at E3 2023 or on the Los Angeles Convention Center show floor.
Phil Spencer, CEO of Xbox, said last week that the company is planning its E3 showcase for a " convenient time for press and even consumers." This means it will likely happen around the same time as the event. Spencer also talked about how E3 and the Entertainment Software Association have the public support of Xbox (ESA).
E3 2023
E3 is a big deal for the video game industry, and ReedPop doesn't take the job of putting on such an important cultural event lightly. Since ReedPop got the contract to run E3 six months ago, we've worked hard with ESA members and their feedback to make a new kind of E3 that fits their goals and needs.
This process has taken a long time because so many people have something to say about it. We could have been more open about questions whose answers we were still working on. We keep working hard to make a show that brings together people from all over the gaming industry.
E3 2023
We spent a lot of 2022 making changes to E3 2023 based on what people told us, so we only sent a single contract to an exhibitor at the beginning of this month. We've got a lot of interest and verbal commitments from some of the biggest companies in the industry.
