Vladivostok, June 19 – Rescuers have identified a 1,900-hectare natural fire in the Olekmensky district of Yakutia, which has been burning since last week.
A forest fire with transition to a 5-hectare crown fire was detected on June 14 during air patrols. Later, it grew to 1,000 hectares, and the fire equipment was not used. Because the terrain was difficult to access, aviation was involved. At the end of the week, the fire area was already 1,400 hectares. Smoke from forest fires reached some settlements, including the city of Olekmensk. On the territory of the Olekmensky district, a municipal emergency system has been introduced.
“The Olekminsky fire is local,” Yevgeny Perfilyev, Minister of Ecology and Nature and Forest Management of Yakutia, wrote in his telegram channel.
