Chinese Foreign Ministry Reacts to Escalating Situation in Kosovo

Beijing, May 31 – In a statement on Wednesday regarding the recent aggravation of the situation in Kosovo, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said the need to avoid an escalation of tension.
Serbian Head of State Aleksandar Vucic met with the Chinese ambassador on Tuesday amid an escalation in Kosovo and Metohija, where 52 Serbs and at least 30 soldiers from NATO’s Kosovo Force were injured during unrest in the northern province on Monday.

“China has always supported Serbia’s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity. In the current situation, it is necessary to avoid an escalation of tensions and maintain peace and tranquility in the Western Balkans,” Mao Ning said.
