Billions of Muslims around the world celebrated the first day of the religious holiday Qurban Bayram, or Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice.

In Turkey, a Muslim-majority country with a rich cultural heritage, celebrations begin early in the morning with Eid prayers in mosques across the country. Devout Muslims in traditional dress gather in large numbers to offer congregational prayers and listen to sermons emphasizing sacrifice, mercy and unity in the Islamic faith.
