Moscow, February 14 – Irina Volk, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, told reporters that spouses accused of fraud with “damages” for the purchase of biologically active additives (BAA) will be tried in Voronezh, and nearly 240 people suffered at the hands of a criminal couple. .

“The preliminary investigation of the criminal case against a married couple – citizens of Ukraine has been completed. The man is charged with 237 offenses under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraudulent). His wife is charged with 142 incidents of similar illegal activities.”

According to investigators, the defendants, together with unknown accomplices, “worked” under the guise of law enforcement officers. They called citizens and stated that they are entitled to compensation for previously purchased nutritional supplements. However, they first had to pay the state duty, which was supposed to be returned to them in the future. Trusted citizens transferred money to the hackers’ accounts, spending it on “criminal purposes”.

Volk indicated that the couple was arrested in the spring of 2021 in St. Petersburg.

“In all, 237 people living in more than 60 districts of the country suffered from the actions of the group members. Currently, the criminal case with the indictment approved by the public prosecutor has been referred to the court for consideration on the merits,” it added. .
