The Egyptian government has approved financial incentives for Egyptian women to encourage them to control their births as a protocol of cooperation was signed between the Ministries of Planning and Economic and Financial Development.

The signing of this protocol comes within the mandate of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to secure continued support from the Ministry of Finance through public revenues for the Egyptian Family National Development Project.

On the sidelines of the signing, the Prime Minister confirmed that the National Egyptian Family Development Project, launched by the President of the Republic Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in February 2022, is a comprehensive development project aimed at improving demographic characteristics such as: education, health, employment opportunities, economic opportunities and culture, in addition to control population growth.

Dr. Hala Al-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said the project aims to improve the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen by controlling population growth and improving demographic characteristics and includes several areas, including: economic empowerment, service intervention, cultural, educational and educational intervention, digital transformation and legislative intervention.

The Minister of Planning stated that this protocol is aimed at coordinating efforts between the Ministries of Planning and Finance; Fulfillment of presidential mandates regarding the implementation of the executive function of the Egyptian Family Development Project and the achievement of the goals of the project by stimulating the commitment of women aged 21 to 45 years to the determinants and conditions of the project; To achieve its goals of population growth control and periodic monitoring in medical facilities, which will positively affect the health of women and children, and help solve the problems of population growth.

The minister also indicated that, according to the protocol, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development will take a number of measures to activate this protocol, which should allow women aged 21 to 45 to participate in the national development project Egyptian family, as a maximum, while exercising periodic control women’s compliance with the terms of the project and takes all necessary measures to verify this, in addition to creating a database on the project, which will be updated periodically. The Ministry also undertakes to periodically provide the Ministry of Finance with all data and statistics on the women covered by the project, as well as the degree of their commitment to and entitlement to these incentives.

While Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, explained that, as per what was stipulated in the protocol, the ministry will create an account in favor of the national project under the single treasury account, and it has a certain number and is called the “National Treasury Account”. Egyptian Family Development Project”, and government bonds or documents with contributions are issued to this account. Women who are committed to its terms, provided that the payment occurs through a mechanism agreed by the two parties under the project.

The finance minister also indicated that the ministry would set aside an amount of £1,000 annually for every married woman with no more than two children, and the accumulated amount would be due to her when she reached the age of 45, provided she complied with all the conditions of the project. and periodic supervision and her right to claim any monies forfeit if she gives birth to a third child. He explained that the accumulated amount due to every married woman with two children would be calculated based on her age at the time of participation in the program, on several determinants .
